UCF College of Medicine
Making Our History
The University of Central Florida College of Medicine was established in 2006 by the Florida Legislature and the Florida Board of Governors to address the growing physician shortage nationwide and provide economic benefits to Central Florida and the state.
We welcomed an outstanding charter class of 41 students in August. The college will gradually increase class size and by 2013 will admit 120 students each year. The charter class had the highest average MCAT score and GPA of any incoming class of medical students in Florida this year, and with more than 4300 applicants, the college was among the most selective in the nation.
Each of the first 41 students received a full scholarship – tuition and living expenses – for all four years. This is an unprecedented opportunity in the history of medical education. Our charter class has been selected with care and will establish a permanent legacy for all classes to come.

As a new medical school, the college offers students opportunities not available anywhere else. Our M.D. program allows students to prepare for careers in every discipline of medicine and to focus on an individualized area of study and interest through research.
